Every claim here has a date on it

Most guides to a country answer whether to go. This one takes that as settled and answers when, and then where. The spine of the site is a grid of seasons against regions: all 78 places and walks here carry a verdict for each of the twelve months, and every verdict carries its reason, whether that is the sea temperature, a pass that is shut, the week a town fills up or the date the last boat runs.

A place at its best in May and unbearable in August is two different places, and one rating for the year is wrong for half of it. It is also why the collections here are queries over the data rather than lists somebody keeps: change a month verdict or a crowd rating and the lists change with it the same day.

Every price, fee, timetable and closure on this site is stored with the day it was checked and the source it came from, and both are printed beside the figure. How old a number is belongs on the page, not in a note about the page.

The half of that policy which costs something is the other one. A figure we could not confirm against a primary source is not shown at all. Some pages here have no entry fee on them because the ticket service does not carry that site and a sign at the gate is not something we can cite. An approximate price is worse than no price, because on the page it looks exactly like a checked one.

The same rule holds whole pages back. A place we cannot give a defensible year to is not published with a guessed one, and several are waiting on better sources rather than on writing time.

Every photograph on this site today is an AI render, generated from real reference imagery and checked against the real geography of the place. None of them is a photograph of the moment it shows, and none is presented as one.

The label saying so sits on the image rather than in a line at the foot of the page, so it travels with the picture wherever the picture goes. A render is good enough to recognise a place by and is not evidence that a view exists in that light, which is the distinction the label is there to keep.

Photographers submit through uncharted.photos, where one account works across every destination guide we run. Approved work replaces the renders frame by frame with full attribution, and the gallery is where that exchange shows up first.

A small team builds this guide and a handful of others on the same method, the same data model and one shared photographer account. Where a booking link appears it carries a line saying it pays us a commission, and nothing on this site is here because a partner asked for it.
