Crowd and price · what peak season actually costs here

Two demands land on one small stretch of coast: the Riviera's July and August crowd, and a festival week in June that sells out the village around it.

Quieter instead: Himarë.

Getting there

car, bus. On the SH8 below the Llogara pass, with the old village up on the slope and the beaches down a steep side road from it. Coast buses run in season. The descent to the sand is slow, and what is at the bottom of it is a small car park.

Parking: Paid and informal parking behind the beaches; it fills by mid-morning in July and August.

Best light: sunrise, golden, sunset.

The bay faces west, which puts the light at the end of the day and makes the middle of it close to unusable on the water. In peak season the honest photograph includes the sunbeds. Check drone requirements with the AAC before travelling.

Drone: not confirmed. Albania's registration requirement is reported differently by every secondary source, so verify with the AAC before you fly.

Dhërmi is two places stacked on each other. The old village sits high on the slope under the Llogara ridge, stone houses and churches with the whole coast below them, and the beaches are down a steep road from it. In summer the beaches are why almost everyone is here.

It is also the Riviera's festival beach. Kala runs here in early June, 2 to 9 June in 2027, and for that week the village and the beach clubs are a single sold-out event rather than a place you drop into for an afternoon.

Dhërmi is the most expensive strip on this coast, and the reason is regulatory as much as commercial: the municipality that covers it has published no approved price ceiling, so every club sets its own board. September is the month worth planning for: the water is still at 24°C, the clubs are still open, and the crowd has gone.
