March is the hinge. The Theth road usually reopens at the end of it, the Osum rafting season starts on snowmelt, and the coast is walkable without being swimmable. Nothing about the north is reliable yet, which is exactly why the calendar still shows it closed.

When exactly does the Theth road reopen?
There is no fixed date. Late March or early April is typical and it depends on the snow, which is why we show the Alps as closed until it is confirmed rather than as a low score.
What is Dita e Verës?
Summer Day, 14 March, an Albanian public holiday centred on Elbasan. Expect a crowded town and a light traffic day everywhere else.
Is the sea warm enough in March?
No. Around 15°C on the Ionian, the same as February.
Is the Koman ferry running in March?
Not yet. The Berisha season starts on 15 April.
Is March good for the canyons?
For Osum, yes, it is the start of the rafting season and it runs on water level. For Lengarica, wait: the canyon rims are only just drying out.
