The load is a day-trip pattern from Sarandë and Corfu: mid-morning to mid-afternoon, then nothing.
Getting there
car, bus. Half an hour south of Sarandë past Ksamil, at the end of the road. The circuit through the site is a walk of about an hour on uneven ground.
Parking: Car park at the entrance; it fills with coaches by mid-morning in summer.

Best light: morning, golden.
Most of the site is under tree canopy, so it is a dappled-light subject rather than a golden-hour one; the theatre and the lagoon are the exceptions. Drone flights inside the national park need the park authority's permission, and that is separate from whatever the national registration requirement turns out to be.
Drone: restricted. A permit or an exemption applies here.
Butrint is the best ruin in Albania and the least like the rest of the country's sights: a wooded peninsula with a Greek theatre at the bottom, a Roman town around it, a Venetian tower at the top and a lagoon on three sides.
It is close enough to Sarandë and to the Corfu ferry that most people see it between about ten and two, which is exactly when the upper site is hottest and least interesting. The circuit takes an hour at a slow walk; at opening in September you will do a good part of it alone.
Standard adult entry is 1,000 lek through the national cultural-sites ticketing platform. The Butrint Foundation's own pages still show an older, lower figure, which is the sort of thing worth knowing before you arrive with the wrong money.
