Getting there

Dardhë is a village in the hills above Korçë at about 1,250 m, and it has been a well known ski area of Albania since the 1920s. Five hundred people lived here at the last count on record, which was a quarter of a century ago.

It is the one place on this site whose best months are January and February. Everything else here gets better as the coast empties; this gets better when the coast is unthinkable, and it doubles as the escape from a Korçë August, which is why its year has two separate peaks and a flat middle.

A ski tow was reported to open at Bigell, near the village, in 2012, described as the first in the country. This page carries that as history and promises no working lift: it could not be corroborated against a second source, and a small mountain installation that nobody has written about in over a decade is exactly the kind that quietly stops running. Ask in Korçë before you drive up for it.
