Getting there

car, bus. About 60 km from Tirana airport, below Mount Rrenci. It is the third largest and northernmost port in Albania, so the road in is good by Albanian standards.

Parking: In town and along the beach road; expect none of it to work during festival week.

Best light: golden, sunset.

Rana e Hedhun, the dune stretch north of the town, is the subject rather than the resort beach is, and low light is what gives dunes their shape. Check drone requirements with the AAC before travelling.

Shëngjin is the northern coast's beach town: a resort of about seven thousand people in Lezhë municipality, with the Kunë-Vain-Tale wetlands protected to the south and the Rana e Hedhun dunes running north of it. The dunes are the better half and the resort strip is the busier one.

One week decides its year. UNUM, an electronic music festival now in its sixth edition, runs 4 to 8 June in 2026 and sells out or close to it. A town this size does not absorb that, so the first week of June is either the reason you are here or the week to be somewhere else, and there is no third option.

September is the quiet answer. The Adriatic is still warm, the sand is empty, and the wetland birds are back to being the reason to walk south out of town.

Beach access is free. No sunbed rate for Shëngjin could be confirmed, so none is printed here, and Lezhë is one of four municipalities named as gaining public beach parcels in 2026, which may change the picture.
